Halloween Festivities Coming Up Around the County

Posted

Who’s ready for some spooktacular family fun? Halloween is coming up soon, and the cities of Collinwood, Waynesboro, and Clifton are gearing up for the annual festivities.

The City of Collinwood, in conjunction with the Collinwood Beautification Board, will once again be hosting “Howling in the Wood” in downtown Collinwood. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, October 30, to avoid any conflict with the CHS vs. WCHS football game on Halloween night, October 31. Kiddos will love the Trunk-or-Treating, which is a great opportunity to load up on candy and other treats. Any organization, business, or individual interested in participating in the Trunk-Or-Treat festivities is welcome! The event will be on Broadway Street from 5pm until 8pm.

There will also be a costume contest for anyone dressed up in the spirit of the season. The annual spook house, The Darkness VIII, promises to be even scarier than ever before. The spook house will be in the former Stitches & Notions building on Broadway in Collinwood.

The City of Waynesboro and the square merchants are calling for all clubs, churches, businesses, organizations, or interested residents who would like to participate in the annual Spook Around Downtown and Spooktacular Trunk or Treat. The event in Waynesboro will be held on Halloween, Friday, October 31, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on the square.

Decorated car trunks, truck beds, and tables are welcome. No reservations are needed; spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please provide only individually wrapped, kid-friendly candy and treats appropriate for kids ages 2 and up. Nothing home baked, please. All ages are welcome!

The City of Clifton will be doing a Trunk-or-Treat event for the kids on Halloween, October 31. Everyone is invited to bring the little ones out in their fabulous costumes to rack up on candy and treats.

With all the events going on in Wayne County on Halloween and Halloween Eve, there will be more than enough activities to keep the kiddos full of candy and occupied with fun festivities to even think about any “tricks,” only treats!
