Posted

Ten golf teams squared off on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Tennessee River Golf Course in Decaturville for the District 13 tournament. The Wayne County High School Wildcats rose to the top, capturing the championship for the second consecutive year with a team score of 311.

Scotts Hill finished as runner-up with a 322, while Bolivar claimed third place with 334.

The Wildcats were led by Brady Stooksberry, who carded a 76 to finish as the tournament’s fourth low medalist. Warren Camfield and Jacan Floyd each posted solid rounds of 78, while Cayman Camfield shot 79 and Lawson Stegall added an 85 to round out the team effort.

Warren Camfield and Jacan Floyd were in a four-way playoff for fifth place where Jacan emerged as the winner after two playoff holes.

Stooksberry, who paced the Wildcats with his 76, credited the team’s depth for the victory. “We’ve all been working hard this season, and it feels great to come together and win the District,” he said. “Everybody stepped up today and it was a total team win. “

With the win, Wayne County will advance to the Region Championship set for next Monday, September 29, once again at Tennessee River Golf Course. The Regional champions, along with the top three individual medalists not on the winning team, will earn a coveted spot in the TSSAA State tournament to be held in Sevierville on October 9-10.

“We know Regionals will be tough, but we’re excited for the challenge,” added Warren Camfield. “Our goal is to keep pushing and make it to State.”

Coach Chris Lynch praised his players for their resilience and consistency. “I couldn’t be prouder of this group,” he said. “They’ve put in the time and supported each other all year. Winning the District is a big accomplishment, but we know the job is not finished —we’re focused on Regionals and hopefully making that trip to state.”
