Truck Fire Brings Out Waynesboro Fire Department

The pickup truck in the photo above sustained irreparable damage when it caught fire on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
City of Waynesboro Fire Chief Doug Gobbell reported that the truck’s owner, Samuel Curtis, was driving the 1997 Nissan 2WD truck on Saturday when it began emitting heavy smoke from the hood area. When Curtis pulled into a driveway on Highway 99, he was fortunately able to escape bodily harm by getting out of the truck as it caught completely on fire. Chief Gobbell said that an electrical fire of some sort, either from under the hood or dashboard, seemed to be the culprit of the fire.
