A favorite holiday for both kids and grown-ups is here – Halloween, and all the fun it brings, is this week! There will be trunk-or-treats and other activities in all three cities.
The City of Collinwood, in conjunction with the Collinwood Beautification Board, will once again be hosting “Howling in the Wood” in downtown Collinwood. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, October 30, to avoid any conflict with the CHS vs. WCHS football game on Halloween night. Kiddos will love the Trunk-or-Treating, which is a great opportunity to load up on candy and other treats. Any organization, business, or individual interested in participating in the Trunk-Or-Treat festivities is welcome! The event will be on Broadway Street from 5pm until 8pm.
There will also be a costume contest for anyone dressed up in the spirit of the season. Collinwood American Legion and Woodmen Life Chapter 844 Collinwood will have free hot dogs, chips, and drinks in front of Veterans Park, and Collinwood American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary will have free hot chocolate in front of Tails & Tangles.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, there will not be a spookhouse in Collinwood this year. However, there will be plenty of other fun things going on, and maybe even a few surprises!
On Halloween, Friday, October 31, beginning at 5pm, the City of Waynesboro and the square merchants are once again hosting the annual Spook Around Downtown and Spooktacular Trunk or Treat on the square. Clubs, churches, businesses, organizations, and merchants will be set up all around the square offering treats and activities for the kiddos.
Decorated car trunks, truck beds, and tables are welcome for those who wish to participate. No reservations are needed; spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis on Friday. Please provide only individually wrapped, kid-friendly candy and treats appropriate for kids ages 2 and up. Nothing home baked, please. All ages are welcome!
The City of Clifton will be doing a Trunk-or-Treat event for the kids on Halloween, October 31. Everyone is invited to bring the little ones out in their fabulous costumes to rack up on candy and treats.
With these events spread out over October 30 and 31, if moms and dads time it just right, the kids can make it to Waynesboro, Collinwood, and Clifton to make a real haul on candy, treats and fun. But don’t worry, even if you only make it to one of the fun-filled events, the kids are promised to have a great Halloween!
