There is no doubt that throughout this summer, around the city of Waynesboro and state highways leading east and south of the square, county citizens have enjoyed the ride...most of the time. The Waynesboro city streets project south of the famous round-about, and Highways 13 South and 64 East are nearing completion for several miles in both directions with new asphalt. These projects by the city and state have been funded in part by state and federal grants. Waynesboro city officials have earmarked funds in the budget for this fiscal year to continue resurfacing city streets, which is part of the plan to cover them all over the next few years. The current project will see a major upgrade in paving beginning at the Highway 13 North overpass bridge on the bypass, running through the red light intersection, and traveling Highway 64 East to the Forty Eight Creek bridge. As the paving projects continue, motorists are urged to be cautious of the work crews and keep speeds at a minimum to prevent any unnecessary accidents.
