Old Timers' Day in Collinwood is Saturday, September 8th

Posted

After a year of anticipation since the last Old Timers’ Day in Collinwood, it’s time for this year’s celebration, coming up this Saturday, September 5th. The Collinwood Beautification Board has partnered once again with the City of Collinwood to make this year’s event better than ever.

Just in case anyone doesn’t know about Old Timers’ Day, the annual event in Collinwood, Tennessee can best be described as a treasured yearly celebration that draws a big crowd from all around, including some faithful attendees from out of state. The event grows bigger and better every year.

Crowds of people always begin to gather in downtown Collinwood, beginning very early on the day of the event. Many people will be out and about by sun-up to sit with friends and probably do a little bit of reminiscing before the country breakfast at Ralph Hughes Park begins at 7am.

From breakfast on, activities continue in anticipation of the big parade at 10am - that’s when the park is usually at its fullest. By 8am, vendor booths will be in full swing, showcasing arts and crafts, fun games, homemade goodies, and delicious food that will make your mouth water as soon as you enter the park.

Classic vehicles are always a big part of the Old Timers’ Day Parade, and this year there will be plenty of classic cars and trucks to enjoy. Lawrenceburg’s Classic Car Club has put out the word to its members to “cruise” on down to Collinwood and be part of the parade. Lineup for everyone in the parade will be at 9:30 am at the Diamond Youth ballfield.

Live music is another feature of Old Timers’ Day that draws big crowds – some of whom “vibe” with the music enough to turn the grassy area in front of the stage into a make-do dance floor. The music will begin at 11am, following the parade. This year’s lineup includes Mike Pelham, Four Wheel Drive, Aly Wilson, and Greg Carlson. Bring your lawn chairs, and your dancing shoes, too, just in case the urge hits you!

Old Timers’ Day is more than just a festival; it’s a day where everyone is welcome and can find something to enjoy in the wonderful small town of Collinwood, Tennessee. Mark your calendars and don’t miss out on this annual day of great music, delicious food, and so much more. It is truly Collinwood’s day to shine every year, and it will be a great day to make memories while having so much fun!
