The Collinwood Beautification Board, working hand in hand with the City of Collinwood, is working hard to prepare for the annual Old Timers’ Day festivities.
The 1st Annual Miss Old Timers’ Day Beauty Pageant will take place on Sunday, August 24 at 2pm. The pageant will be divided into groups beginning with age 1-3 (Tiny Miss) and going up to age 16-19 (Miss Old Timers’ Day). The pageant will be held at Collinwood Middle School. Attire will be formal, and all Queen winners will be required to participate in the Old Timers’ Day parade. Registration forms may be obtained at The T House in Collinwood or Collinwood City Hall.
Saturday, August 30, 2025, is the big day! The treasured Old Timers’ Day celebration will begin with a delicious country breakfast in the park, hosted by McGlamery Church. Ralph Hughes Park in downtown Collinwood will be at its fullest as people get ready for the annual Old Timers’ Day Parade, which will begin its route through town at 10am. Lineup for the parade will be from 9:00 until 9:30 a.m. at the Collinwood Recreation Building. The parade will be led by the Collinwood American Legion Post 254. Mr. and Mrs. Old Timers’ Day, Danny and Gina Sandusky, will proudly help to lead the parade as well. Anyone with questions about the parade may call Debie Pigg, 931-722-4514/
Immediately following the parade, festivities will be in full swing. Emcee for the day will Chuck Koblentz, our locally famous DJ and owner of WWON Big Oldies in Waynesboro. Collinwood High School’s sports teams will be recognized, along with the CHS cheerleaders.
There will be a car show following the Old Timers’ Day parade, set to begin around 1:00 p.m. Signup for the car show will be during the parade. For more information, contact Debie Pigg at 931-722-4514.
Lots of vendors have already signed up for the event. The Collinwood American Legion will have hamburgers and hot dogs; other vendors will have barbecue, Tupperware, knives, soaps, candles, fish plates, woodworking, face painting, lemonade, and much more. Collinwood Church of God will have a watermelon eating contest at 11am. Different churches will offer free water to everyone on what will most likely be a hot and humid Tennessee day.
Past vendors must reserve their booths if they plant to participate again this year. Anyone interested in being a vendor may call Peggy Chambers at 931-212-9016 to reserve a space. Vendors may begin setting up anytime before 8am on the day of the event. Vendor hours for the day are 6am until 5pm. All vehicles must be out of the park by 8am, and there will be no re-entry into the park before 5pm.
Old Timers’ Day musical performances are set to begin at around 12:00 noon. The great entertainment will kick off with the Collinwood Church of God Ladies’ Choir, followed by Mike Pelham, Aly Wilson, and Jamie Hinson.
Old Timers Day is more than just a festival; it’s a day where everyone is welcome and can find something to enjoy in the wonderful small town of Collinwood, Tennessee.
