Jesse Fay Jean "Fay" Holt Gallian

Jesse Fay Jean “Fay” Holt Gallian was born February 20, 1932, in Cypress Inn, Tennessee to Arthur and Lottie Belle Bevis Holt. She passed away September 20, 2026, at the El Reposo Nursing Facility, Florence, Alabama, due to complications of dementia/Alzheimers. She was united in marriage on May 11, 1952, to Herbert Coffman Gallian, who preceded her in death, May 21, 2006. Fay and Herbert made their home in Waynesboro where they both were employees of Genesco. She was a payroll clerk for the company for many years.

Fay’s interests included the “Red Hat Society,” and she worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives held locally and volunteered at Wayne Medical Center. She was an avid bowler in the Lawrenceburg Bowling League for many years and proudly displayed her trophies at her home. Fay liked to knit and crochet,

and was a very capable seamstress. She also loved to work jigsaw puzzles and play board games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Fay is survived by her son, Michael Holt “Mike” Gallian (Susan), of Waynesboro; Melonie Jean Gallian Butler (Jeff) and Hope Lanette Gallian Winton (Chris) of Florence. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Mendy Gallian Stotts (Joseph), Benjamin “Ben” Gallian (Tonya), William Herbert “Will” Gallian (Frankie), Katie Butler White (Nick), Jesse Butler (Caroline), Ally Davis Piefer (Nick), Katherine Davis Fretwell (Braxton) and Mary Lauren Davis Vandivier(Cory). Fay was proud great-grandmother to 14: Michaela Gallian, Barrett Gallian, Bowman Stotts, Skyler Gallian, Kaelyn Gallian, Lucille Lee Stotts, Taylor Ruth Gallian, Parker Ann Gallian, Lawson White, Cohen Piefer, Elsie White, Carter Butler, Sutton Piefer, and Wallace White, with #15 “baby boy Butler” due in December.

She is also survived by brother-in-law, Olin Wright, and sister-in-law, Elaine Holt, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, James Holt (Geraldine), Leroy Holt, and Thomas Holt (Emmanola), and sisters Maveline Scobey, and Effie Augie Bea Wright.

Funeral services began at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Waynesboro Church of Christ with Mitchell Skelton and Gregg Lee officiating. Interment followed at Waynesboro Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Ben Gallian, Will Gallian, Barrett Gallian, Jesse Butler, Bowman Stotts, and Joseph Stotts. Honorary pallbearers were Lawson White, Cohen Piefer, Carter Butler, and Wallace White.

The family would like to thank Judy Holt for her care of Fay for the last several years and the El Reposo Nursing Facility.
