Darrell Wade Murphy was born in Waynesboro, Tennessee to the union of his parents, the late Mr. George William “Little Man” Murphy and Mrs. Ima Elvesta Gillis Murphy. During his occupational years, he worked for Murray Ohio Manufacturing in Lawrenceburg for 20 years until their closing, at which time he chose his new vocation of Correctional Officer for Tennessee Department of Corrections in Clifton, where he would remain for over 21 years and eventually retire.
In his leisure he loved listening to music and watching his favorite football team, the “Tennessee Vols,” play anytime they took the field with his wife and their canine companions “Sally” and “Lil Redd.” He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, lunches with his friends, and visits with his daughter and her fur babies.
