Butterfly 5K to Celebrate Sweet 16 This Year

The Butterfly Foundation was organized in 2007 by the Stegall family of Waynesboro. Following the death of Ryleigh Stegall from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, her family formed The Butterfly Foundation as a way to help families in Wayne and surrounding counties with expenses incurred due to a child's life-threatening illness. Since 2007, the Foundation has given grants totaling $1,379,575 to 437 families. The Foundation operates off donations from the public and from a series of fundraisers throughout the year. Their major fundraiser is the annual Butterfly 5K.

The 16th Annual Butterfly 5K will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025. It will be held at the Waynesboro City Park. Last year saw a record-setting number of pre-registered runners from several states.

Sponsorship forms will be mailed to previous and potential sponsors in February. It is vitally important that the forms be returned as soon as possible for planning purposes. Online registration will begin soon and will end on May 19.
