After the Wayne County 6U Boys' Baseball Team brought home the State Championship trophy, they went on to represent our state as "Team Tennessee," competing in the Diamond Youth Baseball Division II 6U World Series in Laurel, Mississippi. The World Series tournament began on Thursday, July 30th, and ended on Sunday, August 2nd, with these youngsters taking the title of World Series Champions - and in UNDEFEATED fashion, at that.
This hard-working team scored an undefeated season and the World Series title under the direction of coaches Logan Cole, Jason Janes, Jeremy Risner, and Boston Ray. The team was made up of players Willie Maples, Ace Kelley, Colt McDonald, Chad Jones, Aiken Eaves, Noah Tidwell, Lou Cole, Jaxx Gaston, Jude Janes, Easton Ray, Sam Moore, and Major Risner. They battled through an eight-game stretch in the World Series tournament and won every game they played, bringing home the Championship Trophy.
In consecutive order, Team Tennessee defeated Amelia, Virginia 17-7, Lawrence Co., Mississippi 21-11, Barnwell, South Carolina 15-5, Shelbyville, Texas 15-5, Amelia, Virginia 26-11, Caldwell, Louisiana 15-6, Shelbyville, Texas 15-1 and Caldwell, Louisiana 12-2 in the championship game.
These coaches and young men now boast the triple-champ titles of District Champs, State Champs, and the greatest honor of all, World Series Champions. Congratulations to our Wayne County team, "Team Tennessee!"
