The Waynesboro Middle School Wildcats faced off with the Vikings of Perry County on Thursday. The Cats had no trouble sealing the deal for a Homecoming victory of 38-8. The WMS Cats started the game strong scoring two touchdowns in the 1st quarter and led 16-0. The Vikings scored a touchdown during the second quarter, but the Cats answered with a touchdown of their own to make the score 24-8 at halftime. Despite losing the kickoff possession at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, the Cats maintained their composure and the defense held Perry Co. scoreless in the second half. The offense racked in two more TD’s in the second half to end the game 38-8.

   Quarterback Carden Venable had a great night offensively, scoring four of the Cats’ touchdowns and rushing a total of 163 yards on 10 carries. Sayler Skelton had 9 carries for 66 yards and had three 2-point conversions. Logan Brewer covered 71 yards on 6 carries and had the final touchdown of the night for the Cats. Silas Birchett had 22 yards on one carry. Bo Odle had 20 yards on 1 carry, and Jaxon Pope scored on a 2-point conversion. The Cats totaled 342 yards rushing against the Vikings.

   Logan Brewer and Austin McFadden led the team defensively. Brewer had 4 tackles and 2 assists while McFadden had 3 tackles, 2 assists, and a QB sack. Alex Ronchetti had 2 tackles, 2 assists, and a fumble recovery. David-Grant Dixon and Hunter Rutkowski had 2 tackles and an assist. Sayler Skelton and Drew Bevis each had 2 tackles. Bo Odle had 1 tackle and 2 assists.  Baker Bryant and Isaiah Gresham had 1 tackle and 1 assist. Jakob Nienast and Aaron Martin had 1 tackle each. Brayden Littleton had 2 QB sacks and 1 assist. Carden Venable had 1 assist and deflected a pass.

   The 4-0 WMS Cats will be traveling to Summertown this Thursday to face the Eagles, hoping to protect their undefeated record. Come support your Waynesboro Middle School athletics.  Go Cats!------Submitted
