Christopher Thomas Hammack, age 53, of Waynesboro was arrested on Monday, July 8th after Officer Austin Lanier of the Waynesboro Police Department was dispatched at approximately 10:00 p.m. on a call regarding a suspicious individual in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. When Officer Lanier arrived at the parking lot, he made contact with Hammack, who allegedly seemed to possibly be under the influence. Hammack ultimately failed field sobriety tests, and allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine earlier in the day. When Officer Lanier performed a search of Hammack’s person, he allegedly located a small glass pipe and a cellophane baggie containing 1.1 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Hammack was arrested on charges of possession of schedule II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $78,500.00 bond.
