Richard Lee Griggs, age 45, of Waynesboro, was arrested on Monday, May 13th after officers initially spotted him driving on Highway 64. According to the report filed by Deputy Spencer Ray, Griggs was observed driving with a passenger, and officers had prior knowledge that his driver’s license was revoked. When the officers activated their emergency lights, Griggs allegedly refused to stop, and began weaving in and out of parked cars with no regard to civilians in the vicinity. Griggs then ultimately stopped the vehicle, jumped out of the driver’s seat, and took off running. Officers were able to apprehend Griggs approximately 90 yards from where he stopped. An inventory of the vehicle Griggs was driving allegedly revealed drug paraphernalia, including a clear glass pipe. Griggs was arrested on charges of driving on a suspended/revoked license, felony evading arrest, and reckless endangerment. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $13,500.00 bond.
