Registration for Wayne County High School students will be on Monday, August 5, in the WCHS cafeteria. Students and at least one parent are required to attend. Please try to limit bringing other family members/friends if at all possible due to space constraints. At the beginning of each session, a presentation will be given on school policies and any new changes. Seniors will register at 4:00 p.m., Juniors at 5:00 p.m., Sophomores at 6:00 p.m., and Freshmen at 7:00 p.m. Students whose last names begin with A-K should enter through the front door to pick up registration materials. Students whose last names begin with L-Z should enter through the back door closest to the gym. The following fees will be required upon registering: student handbook fee, locker fee, report card mailing fee, and parking fee for drivers. Students who have charges, fees, or missing books from last year will need to be cleared before registering. The WCHS cafeteria manager, Jamie Jackson, will be available to accept deposits for student lunch accounts.
Students and parents should be advised that the school day will begin at 7:50 a.m., and the first day for students will be a full day on Thursday, August 8.
Yearbooks may be picked up after your meeting in the library. Columbia State junior and senior dual enrollment students and their parent(s) will meet briefly after your grade’s presentation is over in Room 13. Don’t forget to go ahead and order a textbook for the class(es) you are taking.
There is no specific supply list for high school students since all students will have different classes. Bring paper and pencil the first day, and teachers will let you know the first day if there are specific items you will need for their classes.
Transfer students should come to their grade’s designated meeting, but should also meet with the counselor prior to registration night. Any prospective transfers should contact Wayne County High School counselor Heather Warren at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school at 722-3238 to schedule a meeting prior to registration night. All transfer students should have a birth certificate, social security card, Tennessee immunization card (can be obtained through local health department), and proof of guardianship and residence. Unofficial transcripts and/or report cards from previous school will also be helpful. Transfer students should attend a brief testing session on August 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the WCHS library to determine RTI placement.
