Sheriff Shane Fisher issued a statement last week, stating that on Saturday, June 29th at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a shooting at 660 Carroll Hollow Road in Waynesboro. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found one subject who had been shot in the lower leg. The person allegedly had non-life threatening injuries, but was transported to Wayne Medical Center by ambulance for evaluation.
A statement released by Sheriff Fisher the following day stated that a 16-year-old juvenile had been taken into the custody of the Department of Children’s Services, and was being charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault stemming from the investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office regarding the shooting incident on June 29th.
Other news outlets have reported that the shooting victim was possibly a relative of the juvenile taken into custody, but law enforcement has not confirmed any further details of the incident.
