With the boiling heat under the hot August sunlight, comes the sound of pads popping at our area football fields. A true sign that Football Season is in full swing as coaches prepare their players for the upcoming season. Under the direction of Wayne County High School’s newly appointed head coach Cary Crews, the Wildcats have been in the trenches getting ready for what is sure to be another action packed season. On Friday, August 2, the Wayne County Wildcats traveled to Hickman County to put their skills to the test in a scrimmage that proved to be quite productive. There were lots of positive plays on both offense and defense as well as special teams, and there was also lots of room for improvement in all aspects of the game. The Wildcats regular season will kick off on August 23 as they travel to Loretto to take on the Mustangs. The Cats will return home to Guy H. Buchanan Stadium on August 30 to host the Summertown Eagles. Game times are at 7:00 P.M. The coaches and team encourage all their fans to come on out to the game and support them during this 2019 season.
