The annual Independence Day Celebration in Waynesboro was a huge success this year, drawing the biggest crowd ever. Event coordinators estimate that approximately 4,000 people were in attendance, which is by far the largest number of attendees since the city began hosting the annual event.
The celebration was held on July 3rd at the City Park in Waynesboro. Vendors were set up all around the park, and reported being sold out of food and treats several times throughout the evening. Local band “Crooked Creek” began the musical part of the event. They are a very popular local band that always draws a large crowd to their performances, and they certainly did not fail to entertain this large crowd!
Ben and Noel Haggard, sons of the late legendary performer Merle Haggard, were the musical headliners of the night. They performed many of their dad’s songs, along with new ones of their own. The crowd was thrilled to be entertained by these popular brothers.
The annual fireworks display closed out the event with fabulous fireworks that seem to get better and better every year. People all around town were able to view the spectacular display that lasted for around thirty minutes. The fireworks display in Waynesboro is said to be well-known as one of the best displays in the state!
This year’s Independence Day Celebration was definitely a success for the city, as well as an enjoyable family event attended by thousands. The city promises to continue the annual event again next year, with performers and fireworks that will continue to be even bigger and better!
