Junior Camp 2019
This year, 15 Wayne County 4-H’ers, 2 adult leaders, and 1 senior high 4-H member attended Junior Camp during the week of June 24-28 at the W.P. Ridley 4-H Center in Columbia. The week was pretty awesome – a few of the highlights included daily color group contests, a visit from the mobile STEM Lab, a glow dance, and more! Campers were able to enjoy activities such as zip-lining, creek stomping, rifle range, archery, swimming, crafts, and more! It was truly a week to remember!
Livestock Show Updates
We’re about halfway through the summer as far as 4-H Livestock Shows. So far, we’ve had the Central Region Sheep Show, the Central Region Beef Show, and the State Beef Expo.
In the Central Region Sheep Show, Tenna Fleming was 5th in the market lamb division and tied for 2nd in the skillathon contest.
In the Central Region Beef Show, Avery Rowlett was Champion with her AOB (Chiangus) heifer, and she placed 5th in the skillathon.
In the State Beef Expo, Avery Rowlett won Champion Junior Showmanship, Reserve Champion AOB, 2nd place with her Angus heifer, and was 4th premier Registered Heifer Exhibitor.
Fantastic job to Tenna and Avery for their hard work preparing their animals for the show, and much appreciation also to their families for helping them with preparation and transportation to the show.
