Waynesboro Commission Appoints Jeff Howell To Fill Father’s Seat
The December 22 regular session of the Waynesboro City Commission was cast in sadness following the passing of Mayor Loyd Howell a week earlier.
Mayor Howell, committed to his role in helping the city progress, had participated in the December 8 commission session by conference call from his hospital bed.

Unemployment Remains Unchanged For November
Unemployment figures released this week by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development show unemployment in Wayne County unchanged from October to November, with 9.6 percent of the local work force unemployed.

PACS Implementation Provides Electronic Imaging Wayne Medical
Wayne Medical Center (WMC) recently made a technology upgrade that brings improved care and greater convenience to patients, according to CEO Mike Sears. The Picture Archival Communications System (PACS) will be used for CT, MRI, ultrasound and diagnostic (CR) images that previously were printed on film. MAKE THOSE 2009 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
As we close out 2008, all of us seem to be making resolutions and having wishes for 2009. My first resolution will be to not participate in the current recession. I will not let the 24-hour news media get me down and will continue with life as I have for the last 60 years, and that is to just take one day at a time. When you get a little down in the mouth, just remember the dog that caught the duck and start spitting out feathers. Trojanettes Win Four; Trojans Win Two, Lose Two
Collinwood played Hampshire at home on Tuesday, December 16th. The Trojanettes came ready to play and out scored the Hawks 52 – 10 in the first half. The Trojanettes continued their scoring streak in the second half and took the win 79 – 22. Summer Thompson and Trista Rich led with 21 points each, followed by Abby Hill with 11 points, Allie Ward had 8 points, Kara Jones and Alissa Littlejohn added 6 each, Jessie Parker, Courtney Simmons, and Jena Butler rounded out scoring with 2 point each. Read More | Post Comment

WCHS Ladycats and Wildcats Finish Busy Holiday Season
The WCHS Ladycats and Wildcats have had a busy holiday season of basketball as they played in Waynesboro, Rogersville, Al., and Hampshire in the last week. The Ladycats dropped a game to the Forrest Lady Rockets last Monday night in Waynesboro, while the Wildcats picked up a victory over the Rockets that night. The Ladycats traveled to Rogersville, Alabama, on Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday to compete in the Lauderdale Christmas Classic tourney.
