A tragic car accident in Collinwood claimed the life of a young Alabama woman in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 22nd.

According to Collinwood Police Department Investigator Dale Palmer, sometime in the hours before daylight last Tuesday, Hayden Moore, age 30, was traveling southbound on Highway 13 just inside the city limits of Collinwood. For reasons still unknown, Moore’s SUV failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to become airborne and strike a utility pole before coming to a rest. Moore was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries sustained during the accident.

The accident was called in by a motorist who noticed it at approximately 5:30 that morning. It is unclear what time the crash occurred, but it is thought that it could have been up to two hours before it was called in.

Moore’s body was sent for an autopsy, which should help to determine what caused her to wreck. She was reportedly living and working in north Alabama, but was a native of Perry County, Tennessee.
