The Wayne County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, August 26th, 2019 in the commission meeting room at the Wayne County Courthouse, with County Executive Jim Mangubat presiding over the meeting. Commissioners in attendance were Herbert Brewer, Tom Mathis, John McDonald, Phillip Casteel, Vickie Petty, Sherrie Powers, Tim Prater, Mary Lauren Garner, Kathryn Staggs, Stephen Pevahouse, Tim Powell, and Rickey Kelley. Also present were County Clerk Stan Horton and County Attorney Andy Yarbrough. Commissioners David Martin and Joe Hall were absent.
County Clerk Horton presented two notaries for approval, Jake C. Brewer and Susie Smith. Commissioner Mathis made a motion to approve, and Commissioner Prater seconded the motion. The notaries were unanimously approved.
The final item on the agenda for the special session was bond refunding. Commissioner Casteel made a motion to proceed with the refunding of bonds in order to save the county money due to reduction of interest. Commissioner Prater seconded the motion, and it passed on roll call vote with all commissioners present voting yes, with the exception of Commissioner McDonald who passed on the vote.
With no further business to come before the commission, Commissioner McDonald made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Powell seconded the motion, and the meeting was adjourned.
